(Annapolis, MD) - Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio has been appointed to serve on a task force that will review insurers of last resort in the State of Maryland. The task force includes three members of the Senate, three members of the House of Delegates, the Commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration, the Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division, representatives of the insurance industry and consumer rights advocate groups.
The task force will consider the Injured Workers' Insurance Fund (IWIF), the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund (MAIF), the Property and Casualty Insurance Guaranty Corporation (PCIGC), the Maryland Health Insurance Plan (MHIP) and the Joint Insurance Association (JIA). The task force, which was established by legislation passed earlier this year, is expected to make preliminary recommendations to the Maryland General Assembly by December 1, 2012 and final recommendations by December 1, 2013. Their recommendations will include potential legal and corporate structure changes that would benefit Marylanders, potential affiliations, market stability factors and the potential for financial independence within each entity.
Haddaway-Riccio is a member of the House Economic Matters Committee and serves on the Property and Casualty Insurance Subcommittee. "I look forward to the work we will be doing on this task force," Haddaway-Riccio said. "These insurers play a major role in the lives of citizens and business owners so it is important for us to discuss how we can structure them to best serve Marylanders. That can only happen with good public input, so I am encouraging anyone with ideas or concerns in these areas to contact me throughout the process."

Haddaway Endorses Dan Bongino for US Senate
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, January 3, 2012
Contact: Karla Graham, Karla@bongino.com, (410) 924-4577
Severna Park, Maryland - Maryland House Minority Whip Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio has endorsed Dan Bongino, candidate for U.S. Senate in Maryland.
"Dan Bongino is an excellent example of the next generation of leaders who understand that the ways of the past will not lead us to a better future," said Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio. "Electing Dan Bongino to the U.S. Senate is paramount to changing the mindset and culture in Washington."
Dan Bongino, a devoted husband and father, served in the United States Secret Service for more than a decade, in which he was assigned to the elite Presidential Protection Division. He represented the U.S. as a lead government security official in over 25 countries. Holding graduate degrees in Business Administration and Psychology, Dan has gone on to start several successful businesses in Maryland. As an entrepreneur, he understands that it will be small businesses and consumer confidence that will reinvigorate the economy; not a tax and spend mentality from big government.
"I am honored by the Minority Whip's endorsement. Delegate Haddaway-Riccio represents a new generation of leaders in our state who refuse to allow Maryland to fall to the wayside, while the powerful establishment serves the needs of special interests over the needs of the people," said Bongino. "Jeannie and I firmly believe that the future for Maryland lies in the hands of those willing to change the way the federal and state governments operate and respond to the very people it serves."
