This week Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio met with representatives of the Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA). She toured a motor truck and talked with professional truck drivers about the impact that a proposed sales tax on gasoline would have on their industry and about their focus on safety.
Delegate Haddaway-Riccio opposes an increase in the gas tax and also opposes a sales tax on gas, which she believes would be even more expensive and detrimental to Marylanders.
The Maryland Motor Truck Association is a non-profit trade organization of Maryland 's commercial trucking industry that has been in existence since 1935. It is one of the largest trucking associations in the country, representing 1,000 member companies.
